Matoya Fishing Lodge
We have seven thatched chalets available for guests, each sleeping two people. The rooms are all fitted with air-conditioning, which is a huge plus on those hot summer nights. Each chalet has two three-quarter beds with individual mosquito nets, and a bathroom complete with washbasin, flushing toilet and shower with hot and cold water. Electricity is supplied to the lodge via a state-of-the-art solar system, with a generator as a backup.
River-facing chalets
Spacious, cool and comfortable accommodation allows you to rest easy as you prepare for your next fishing expedition.
Perfect position
The location of Matoya means you are a few minutes (by boat) from prime tigerfish spots all year round.
Superb dining
To complement our comfortable accommodation, we pride ourselves on serving great food (and ample volumes of it), backed by a well-stocked bar.
Environmentally Friendly
Electricity:
Is supplied to the lodge via a state-of-the-art solar system, with a generator as a backup.
Our boats:
All the fishing boats are equipped with environmentally friendly four-stroke motors.
Catch and release:
We pride ourselves on our strict 100% catch and release policy.
Aquaponics:
Daily fresh vegetables are provided by our small-scale aquaponics farm. The fish are utilized as the live bait for fishing.
Reverse osmosis:
Our reverse osmosis system provides the lodge with all its fresh drinking water. It is a process by which a solvent passes through a porous membrane in the direction opposite to that for natural osmosis when subjected to a hydrostatic pressure greater than the osmotic pressure.
No plastic:
As the lodge is situated in a cleaner environment, we do not promote the use of plastic at Matoya Fishing Lodge. All our drinking water is provided in stainless steel flasks.
